The collection of Door to Door and charity box drop off clothing has slowed down due to the frigid weather conditions. It is estimated that better collections should start again within a week or two.
On average there are at least two or three new businesses starting in the used clothing business just in Southern Ontario alone. With little experience and even less financial planning the road ahead is not even paved.
The failure of such enthusiastic enterprises only adds problems for the well established companies.
Exports of Used Clothing have been up according to Stats Canada in the last quarter even though alot of exports are going to troubled countries either financially or internally.

The prices of Original used clothing from door to door & charity box collections has remained steady so far during January, even though collections have been slow.

Wipers:-
Rag Wipers are a by product of the used clothing sorting and grading industry. A few years ago, every used clothing grader wanted to sell their graded Rag Wipers wholesale to companies who specialised in the wiping rag business only, which was fine, as supply met with demand and led to an even flow between supplier and buyer.
During the last decade ( maybe longer) the used clothing and grading businesses have increased in numbers, which was due to the split of management starting on their own.
The supply of Wipers outstripped the demand. It was now a buyers market
Prices from suppliers dropped and in some cases suppliers would deliver to you Free of Charge. Anyone with any business foresight can easily predict what was now going to happen. And it did !!
The Wiper bagging machines were introduced to the market by Ken Mills Engineering Ltd which saved quite alot on the shipping cost. Quick and efficient, this machine packed wipers into 25lb clear plastic bags that were easily stacked on a skid and took up very little space.
With the closure of so much industry the demand for Rag Wipers became less and less and the supply was growing.
The renowned and respected, well established Wiper Companies became stronger by diversifying and introducing new products for the ever increasing health and safety demands.
